Karen’s Success Story With CORE Physical Therapy And Pilates

Karen is a Pilates and GYROTONIC® studio owner in Paris and was looking for a place to practice while in Austin.  She found the team at CORE Physical Therapy and Pilates.

She has been working out in studios all her life and she felt that the atmosphere at CORE is very magical. She saw people laughing and enjoying themselves, there was a lot of happiness. Happiness can be healing.

She started coming more often at CORE and she got to meet the different instructors and saw the quality of their work. It was no longer just teaching people exercises, but it was just really trying to help people feel what they needed in order to be free in their bodies. There is a transmission of knowledge without the authoritative feeling to it.

Karen has been dancing and working her body forever so she had a lot of injuries. She had been helped enormously at CORE Therapy and Pilates because of the openness of the methodology. It has helped her explore and release her body in certain ways that she was not conceiving of before.

She was taken through different apparatus, joking and laughing, which helps her too.

Karen did not know much about physical therapy. She thought she could fix her injuries by herself. This is the first time that she felt that she was in an atmosphere where she can be more passive and let somebody else help her fix herself.

It helped her realize that some things are easy.

What would Karen say to someone skeptical to Physical Therapy at CORE?

She understands what pain can do. Before she had her hips operated on, she was walking with a cane because of the pain, and she was a professional dancer. And your world gets very small, and you get very fearful.

You start to move less and the less you move, the less you can move. She had searched through a lot of different methods to find relief and to better her capacity to keep moving, and she found it at CORE.

What she likes is that you would be encouraged to advance on your path, and that there is always respect to your limits, and that you can always say “No.” Sometimes you come across physical therapists who don’t respect that and fear follows. Stephen, Cheryl, and all the team, respect that.

So you don’t have to be afraid. The more you move, the more you’re going to get out of that little world, and get into something that’s going to be a happier place.

What did Karen enjoy the most about CORE?

Karen has been in a lot of studios, in New York, in Paris, wherever she goes, she seeks out pilates, yoga, and she works on a daily basis.

The magic of physical therapy in combination with movement therapy at CORE is something that really brings an extra to the ball game. Stephen and Cheryl also bring their own happiness.

The atmosphere changes a lot. When you work with people that are positive, open, and happy, it brings something into your own body.
