"I opened my business after 3 years of working at the typical 'PT mill' with juggling 3 to 5 patients an hour. So my clinic is now based on NOT being the typical and the first step is spending time with each patient. So I chose to offer one on one, hour long appointments to address reaching the goals of each individual. This allows me to learn about the body on each visit in a continuous assessment and treatment progressive approach. With the home release program and awareness training, I teach patients to empower themselves to improve."

As a physical therapist in the Houston and Austin areas since 1995, Allyson has developed a gentle approach to whole body healing. At Core she has been able to spend more time personally with each client addressing the entire body and providing recovered clients with pilates training to keep them progressing.
“The one body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body.” Allyson uses this belief in three areas: First, in her approach to addressing areas of restriction throughout the body as a whole. Second, learning from co-workers, clients and other therapists taking pieces of wisdom and incorporating them into a whole treatment. Last, incorporating the pilates practice into discharge from physical therapy to continue parts of your recovery into a pursuit of health for your whole life. All parts making up one process of returning your body to health.
Her background in Total Motion Release techniques as well as Craniosacral Therapy, Strain/ Counterstrain and PIlates make for a holistic and gentle approach with quick results. The focus of her therapy is to empower the client with tools to heal themselves.
Allyson earned her B.S. in kinesiology at The University of Texas in 1992 and her M.S. in physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Houston in 1995. She has worked in pediatrics for 9 years also with great success treating pediatric orthopedic issues and infant torticollis with no crying!

Julie began her Pilates practice in 2000 and soon realized that Pilates was exactly what her body needed to finally feel both strong and balanced. In 2007 she expanded her interest by completing a certification program through PhysicalMind Institute. At that time Julie was working in the public sector and teaching a few classes during the evenings and on weekends. Knowing she wanted to teach Pilates as her “act two career” Julie was a member of the Core Therapy’s inaugural teacher training program to expand her understanding of the Pilates method in physical rehabilitation. Julie completed the Pink Ribbon Pilates Program in 2012, a therapeutic application of Pilates for post-operative breast cancer recovery. In 2014 she completed Aston Kinetics foundation classes which provided skills in observing and assessing body movement patterns. Over the past year Julie completed training in GYROKINESIS® after seeing the results that this movement method provided in joint mobility and strengthening.
Julie is passionate about helping clients find their best body for function and health and thinks Pilates and GYROKINESIS® are smart ways to achieve both.

Pilates & GYROTONIC® Apprentice
Alayna can be found anywhere in the studio, from the customer service team in the front office to teaching private lessons and group classes. She is a lover of movement. Throughout high school her family always found her in the living room trying any workout video she could get her her hands on. Kathy Smith workout videos were her first introduction to Pilates, and she discovered the rehabilitative aspects of Pilates when taking mat and reformer classes in college helped her recover from a back injury she sustained while working on her B.F.A in dance at Belhaven University. Her time dancing also provided connections with the GYROTONIC® world, and she was instantly hooked to the flow and challenge of the movement. Not one to take things slowly, Alayna started her apprenticeships simultaneously in both Pilates and Gyrotonic upon her move to Austin in 2017. She loves to challenge her clients without letting them sacrifice technique and hopes to help them experience the joy that movement can bring.
In her spare time you can find her cooling off at Barton Springs, finding a new way to cook vegetables, or pushing herself in her own Pilates and Gyrotonic practice.
