Why Whole 30?




Hey, this is Allyson and Alayna from CORE, and we just wanted to make a quick blog about Whole 30. We both decided to do Whole 30. She and O’Hara, who is an apprentice here as well, started it and I thought I’d join in. I decided to do it because I wanted to see the impact of different foods on my body.

You can determine with an elimination diet what impact different foods have on you. And the second reason is I knew I was eating not because I was hungry, but for different reasons, and I wanted to try to understand my emotional reasons for eating and change some of those habits to have healthier alternatives.

– [Alayna] I tried Whole 30 because I was feeling like my blood sugar wasn’t balanced because I was feeling hungry every two hours. I was having a lot of cravings for a ton of salt, or a ton of snacky foods, or sweets. So I knew that those cravings meant something was out of balance.

So I just wanted to get to a super clean way of eating and also see if there were certain foods that impacted my mood. I would get also really ‘Hangry’. If you don’t know that term, it’s hungry plus angry. So if I went even three hours without eating, I would get kind of shaky and just be moody and irritated.

So that is why I chose to do Whole 30, and I’m really glad I did.
