Hi, it’s Allyson at CORE… I am doing part of the series on giving back in our community and ways that different people at CORE have volunteered with or worked with different organizations so that you kind of know people you can trust if you want to give back this holiday season.
One way that my family and I did… you guys kind of saw some of it after Hurricane Harvey… is we volunteered with Austin Disaster Relief Network ( https://adrn.org/ ). We were sorting clothes and things that had been donated and organizing some of that to get shipped out to some of the hurricane victims. They have a permanent location here in Austin off of 51st Street and they appreciated everything in the amount of time that we had. They did a really brief introduction on on how their process works then you come and go whenever you have time to help out. That was a great experience for my family and a great way to try and teach our kids to grow up and be giving people and to bring them into the volunteer opportunity and the family learned some of that service together.
Happy Holidays…
