Today's office jobs entail sitting for long hours, which can result in poor posture, back and neck pain, and a host of other health issues. The Duorest chair is specifically designed to mitigate these problems.

What are the benefits of using this ergonomic chair at the office?

One of the significant benefits of using the Duorest Ergonomic Chair in the office is that it dramatically enhances comfort. The adjustable dual backrests alleviate pressure on the spine, reducing fatigue and discomfort. In addition, the 3D movement design encourages you to change positions often, preventing the stiffness associated with prolonged sitting.

But the advantages do not stop at comfort. This chair is also a boon for productivity. Research indicates that discomfort from poor ergonomics can distract you and decrease your work performance. By offering superior comfort and support, the Duorest chair allows you to focus better on your work.

Are ergonomic chairs really worth it?

Absolutely. The benefits of ergonomics go far beyond immediate comfort. Regular use of an ergonomic chair can help prevent long-term health problems associated with poor posture and sedentary behavior, like musculoskeletal disorders. Moreover, the cost of ergonomic chairs is often offset by the potential increase in productivity and reduction in healthcare costs.

Does an ergonomic chair help with back pain?

The Duorest Chair's ergonomic design can indeed help with back pain. It encourages a correct sitting posture by supporting the natural curve of your spine, which can significantly alleviate back strain. Furthermore, the chair's dynamic movement encourages periodic posture changes, which can prevent the muscle stiffness and soreness associated with prolonged sitting.

Does an ergonomic chair help with neck pain and headaches?

Similarly, the chair can help with neck pain and headaches. An adjustable headrest supports your neck and head, maintaining a healthy alignment with your spine. This can prevent the tension and strain that often lead to neck pain and headaches. The headrest is also designed to reduce eye strain, a common cause of headaches in the office environment.

What is the price range for duorest chairs compared to other ergonomic chairs?

When it comes to the price range, the Duorest ergonomic chairs might seem more expensive than traditional office chairs at first glance. However, considering their significant health and productivity benefits, they offer excellent value for money. The cost of Duorest chairs varies depending on the specific model and features, but typically, they fall within a mid- to high-end price range compared to other ergonomic chairs.

Why are ergonomic chairs so expensive?

Ergonomic chairs are often more expensive than traditional office chairs due to the extensive research, design, and high-quality materials that go into their construction. They're not just made to fill a space; they're crafted with a keen understanding of human anatomy and the science of ergonomics. This specialized design allows them to provide superior support and adjustability, ensuring a personalized fit for each user. Moreover, the high-quality materials used in these chairs are meant to ensure durability, meaning these chairs often last much longer than standard office chairs.

Are ergonomic chairs better than office chairs?

Ergonomic chairs are a type of office chair, but they incorporate special features to promote comfort, proper posture, and overall well-being. Traditional office chairs may lack these specific features, which can lead to discomfort or even long-term health problems with extensive use. So, in terms of promoting health and productivity, ergonomic chairs are generally considered better than standard office chairs.

What is the difference between an orthopedic and an ergonomic chair?

While both types of chairs aim to provide comfort and support, there is a key difference between orthopedic and ergonomic chairs. Orthopedic chairs are designed specifically to address the needs of individuals with existing health conditions like back pain or arthritis, conforming to the body to relieve pressure on key points.

On the other hand, ergonomic chairs are designed with the goal of preventing health issues related to poor posture and extended periods of sitting. They are made to support the body's natural alignment, reduce strain, and encourage movement. While an orthopedic chair can be ergonomic, not all ergonomic chairs are orthopedic, as they do not necessarily target specific health conditions.

Are ergonomic chairs good for posture?

Absolutely! One of the primary goals of an ergonomic chair is to support good posture. Unlike traditional chairs, ergonomic chairs are adjustable in multiple ways, including seat height, backrest angle, and armrest position. These adjustments allow the chair to fit the user's body precisely, encouraging a sitting posture that maintains the natural curve of the spine. Regular use of an ergonomic chair can help prevent the slouching habit and other poor posture issues associated with long-term sitting.

Conclusion

The Duorest Ergonomic Chair from Ergospace is more than a chair; it's a comprehensive solution to the comfort and health issues that plague the modern workspace. This is the black one here that I bought in 2001. So, it's 2021. I'm going to go over the fact that it's old, and I've had it for a long time. And I use this for many, many years as my chair. However, it’s something I haven't been using because I got a new one, but I'll go over that in just a moment.
<p class="data-css=" tve-u-176f20b5052"="" style="" "="">So, this chair, it's like a sitting on a ball; it moves around, it has springs to adjust how tense it is, or how stable or unstable it is. But the benefit of this chair is when you're sitting on it, it's forcing your core to fire, it's forcing a little multifidus muscles to work, it forces your abdominals to work.

If you end up slouching in it, it really becomes uncomfortable and your center of gravity starts to pull you off of the thing. These swopper chairs are about $600. They're not cheap by any means but again, I've had this one for 19 years and it's still in working condition although it's being used every day in the front of my office.

This new swopper chair here, I got it from a patient of mine who was too lazy to actually sit on it because it does make you work. But the benefit is for taller people like me, it allows me to sit with my hips above my knees.

Whereas most chairs will hold me in a situation where my knees and hips are level or my hips are a little lower, which compresses my hip flexors and causes me a lot of compression. I do tell and recommend people to sit in it in a wearing pattern or like if you ever get an orthotic, they don't tell you to just go wear the orthotic for eight hours a day on the first day.

So, sit on it for 30 minutes, a couple times in the morning, 30 minutes in the afternoon and start building your way up to sitting on it for longer periods to be able to sit on it for a full day.

Why not work on your core while you're working? That’s the benefit of it. And one of the biggest things we're seeing through this pandemic is people sitting at home, and a workstation from home that's not very ergonomic at all.

That kind of starts having your core involved when you least expect it and that sets the table for a much better day for back pain for neck pain, etc.

I hope all home workers that are shifting and pivoting to work and at home, that you're thinking about your posture and you're thinking about your ergonomics and that you're not just sitting there, grinding away at the dinner table with a laptop sitting on it and looking down at it all day.

Call 512.215.4227

All right. Hey guys, what’s up? It’s Stephen from CORE Therapy and Pilates and today I have our new apprentice, Liz. She’s our new Pilates apprentice thats going to be helping me out with this demonstration. What we’re going to do is, we’re going to talk a little bit about the diaphragm and about the ribs.

All my patients, when we talk about core strengthening, their ribs tend to be elevated and what I call, “Popped up.” A lot of my clients have an increased sway in their back, or lordosis in their back. So their pelvis is rocked forward, but the ribs are also rocked up. And so, what we’re going to do is a little diaphragmatic breathing exercise, but with a little sandbag.

So I’m going to put this little sandbag on her ribs. This sandbag is a yoga product. It’s from a website called beanproducts, BEANproducts.com. It’s a 10 pound sandbag, and by putting that on the lower ribs, what it does is it starts to depress those ribs, and stress the front of the torso a little bit.

Now, what I want you to do, Mrs. Liz, I want you to take a big inhale, and I want you to inhale into my hands, and then exhale. Bring your ribs together. Good, so we’re going to do diaphragmatic breathing, but with this sandbag, okay? Now, you can order these sandbags from the website I mentioned, beanproducts.com. We also have some of the sandbags here, but they’re not filled with sand. I’m working on a project to get them filled with sand. So we have them, an empty bag that you can purchase here and go fill it up with sand, and put the right amount of sand, anywhere from eight to 10 pounds, and use it at home.

So this is a product that I’ve been using for years. I love this products. I teach my clients to use it at home. I teach my clients to use it in here as a part of their therapy. And all this is doing is it’s releasing the diaphragm, and it’s allowing the ribs to get into a better position. But more importantly, it’s getting the lumbar spine into a better position. Most people think about getting lumbar spine in a better position by the position of their pelvis, by tilting their pelvis backwards, or forwards, or whatever to get into a neutral spine.

But the reality is that the rib position has a lot to do with it, and so that’s what this is all about today, is the diaphragm release with the sandbag while practicing diaphragmatic breathing. So that’s what we got for you today. If you have any questions, comment below, and I’ll be happy to answer, and we’ll see you all around the studio. You all take care, bye now.

[UPDATE] We have weighted sandbags at the front desk of CORE… Stop by and get one while they are in stock or click on this Amazon link to order »

So, I want to go over a little bit about a standing posture at a standup desk. Because most people don't know how to sit very well so their sitting posture is bad.

Then they think, "Oh, I'll get a standup desk and that'll help my pain because I'm standing up." Well, guess what? If you have poor sitting posture, you probably are going to have poor standing posture. If you don't have very good strength in sitting, you probably don't have very good strength in standing.

So, with that said, I want to go over a couple little tricks for that. Now, with that said, we have my little standup desk right here. Now, what this is is this one's a Ergotron and it goes up and down. So, you can sit and then you can then lift it up to here.

Now, once we lift it up to here, the question was I had the other day is how do my arms end up? How does my elbows end up? So, the key is bringing it up to where your elbows are at 90 degrees and your wrists are not cocked up like this. So, you don't want to have your wrists like this while you're working. They want to be nice and neutral.

Get your stand up desk here…

So, the scenario of right here, I've got my elbows at 90 degrees, I've got my wrist in a good position and the reality for me is that these monitors are a little low.
